Your worst nightmare: Remember that guy you picked on in high school because he had glasses, acne and no semblance of athletic ability; well he’s the guy who owns the red Ferrari in the CEO parking spot where you just applied for a job.

On March 2, 2016, a day before my birthday and at the heart of the period in which I was writing about the rings Donald Trump was running around his detractors, 122 of the ‘biggest’ names in the GOP national security clique penned an open letter on Trump detailing their opposition to a Donald Trump presidency.

Yes, the ‘biggest’ names, the ones who led us into numerous wars on faulty intelligence and are arguably responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths and catastrophic injuries among US and Iraqi troops and civilians. The letter begins with:

We the undersigned, members of the Republican national security community, represent a broad spectrum of opinion on America’s role in the world and what is necessary to keep us safe and prosperous. We have disagreed with one another on many issues, including the Iraq war and intervention in Syria. But we are united in our opposition to a Donald Trump presidency. Recognizing as we do, the conditions in American politics that have contributed to his popularity, we nonetheless are obligated to state our core objections clearly:

It concluded as such: We commit ourselves to working energetically to prevent the election of someone so utterly unfitted to the office. open letter on Donald Trump

Okay we get it, Trump is the devil and you folks don’t want any part of what would be a gross miscalculation on the part of the American people who might actually ignore your ‘expert’ advice and elect him anyway. You could have gotten a little more creative and produced one of those high tech videos that the Hollywood lunatics used to try and scare everyone – a letter is for the intelligentsia, we neanderthal types respond much better to pictures than big words.

If it’s any consolation, those videos didn’t work either so you’re in good company where irrelevant elitists against Trump ARE concerned.  Can you guys act also… apparently there’s plenty of work in the video production industry and you already have friends there.

Today, in the Washington Post:

They are some of the biggest names in the Republican national security firmament, veterans of past GOP administrations who say, if called upon by President-elect Donald Trump, they stand ready to serve their country again.

But their phones aren’t ringing. Their entreaties to Trump Tower in New York have mostly gone unanswered. In Trump world, these establishment all-stars say they are “PNG” — personae non gratae.

“Stand ready to serve again,” seriously? First of all, President-elect Trump has clearly stated that he doesn’t consider these ‘experts” to be experts and he has zero interest in working with them or listening to their advice.

“It’s hostile,” said this person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of further retribution. “It’s not just that we’re frozen out. . . . I was told they said there was an enemies list.” full story

Are we now felling a bit insecure with respect to your self worth – hostile, frozen out and enemies, hmm – is this person referring to the letter that he/she composed and signed with the sole intention of attacking Trump?

Dear Donald:

You’re an unhinged nincompoop who lacks the ability to comprehend even the simplest of issues, but we stand ready and would love to work in your administration now that you’re the president.

Eternally yours,

Unemployed experts

Trump may not be a rocket scientist or a polished statesman but he has a PhD in pragmatism and common sense, I’ll take the latter over the former when it comes to the track record of our polished, corrupt politicians of the last few decades.

In my opinion, the days of protracted wars and nation building are over. The purpose of war is to destroy an enemy before they destroy you – go in, do the job and get out. If there is no imminent danger to America or its citizens, then there is no need to send troops into harm’s way. One way to eliminate conflict in the Mid East is to make America energy independent and cut off any possible sources of funds to hostile regions.

The best defense is an incredibly strong offense: Our military is depleted on many levels and one of our main focuses is to remove that fact from the equation.

May, 20016 – Army at smallest since WWII: According to the military’s headcount by the Defense Manpower Data Center, nearly 2,600 soldiers left active duty in March without being replaced, the news outlet reports, adding that during the past year, the size of the active forced has been reduced by 16,548 soldiers. full story

August, 2004 – The Navy plans to draw down its force to 320,000 officers and enlisted sailors by 2011 — the lowest end-strength since 1940 and just over half of the 605,000 people the service had in 1990 when the last drawdown began.

And there’s THIS from General James Mattis:

The policies of Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama have not been working, time to take a new approach. It’s not the time for infighting or for the coddling of broken egos. The failed leaders of the past and the American people owe the President-elect some latitude and some respect over the next year or 2 to implement the policies of what seems to be a united Republican Party.

Unfortunately, a successful Trump administration would be the hardest blow to absorb for the establishment politicians on BOTH sides of the isle, for obvious reasons.
